Koboko, Koboko and Koboko District Water Scheme

Overview

In August 2025 the government and KfW commissioned two piped water systems in Lamwo District: one for Lamwo Town Council (cost UGX 4.3 billion) serving 11,657 residents and another for Palabek–Kal Town Council (cost UGX 5.012 billion) serving 12,113 Combined, the systems benefit 23,770 people across several Construction began in November 2023 and was completed in August 2025.

Features and social benefits.

The systems use solar‑powered pumping and include public standpipes, reservoirs and sanitation facilities. NUWS will manage them to ensure sustainability. Residents like Flavia Aceng said the projects reduce the distance they travel to fetch water and boost market business because water is available locally. Catherine Angwech Agwai, manager of WSDF‑N, stated that improved access to safe water would enhance livelihoods and allow children to spend more time in school rather than walking long distances.

Local leaders urged communities to pay water tariffs and avoid vandalising infrastructure
